The objective was to design a series of headline-dominant magazine ads featuring a small, stand-alone business. I chose Placebos Mints, a small company that specializes in creating mints for hyper-specific scenarios. They specialize in creating themed mints that aim to relieve stress and promote mindfulness through their playful names.
Using mints that address your specific issue can help the user practice mindfulness and even benefit from the placebo effect, making them feel as if their problem is less severe after eating a mint.
I chose to create ads for 3 different mint "flavors" : "Relief from Mansplaining", "Relief from Parenting Exhaustion", and "Relief from Academic Overwhelm." Each ad represents a potential scene from which a customer would benefit from using that specific mint.
The staggered grungy type evokes a sense of chaos that requires the solution of Placebos Mints to help ease the stress of the situation and allow for a humorous perspective on the issue.
